Tbh I thought those little portable coffee presses were just extra weight for my pack
My buddy in Boise swore by his for years, and I finally tried it on a 4-day trip in the Sawtooths last month. Honestly, having actual brewed coffee instead of instant crystals at 8,000 feet was a complete game-changer for my mornings. Anyone have a specific brand they've used that actually holds up to being rattled around in a bear can?

The weight penalty is worth it for the morale boost. My old AeroPress has survived some serious drops onto granite.

The morale boost argument is kinda funny until you actually have to pack it. That AeroPress takes up a lot of space for something that only makes one cup at a time. And the drops onto granite thing only matters if you're dropping it regularly. I'd rather just be careful and save the weight for something I'll actually use multiple times a day.
