TIL my 12 year old tent fly was the leak source, not the floor
After 3 soggy nights at Algonquin last month I waterproofed the bathtub floor twice before my buddy pointed out water was dripping from the seam above my head, so has anyone else chased a leak in the wrong spot before checking the obvious?

Same thing happened to me with the seam tape on an old tent. I wasted a whole afternoon spraying the floor and even bought a new footprint before I noticed water beading up right on that top seam.
What worked for me was taking the tent inside, setting it up in the garage, and spraying it with the hose while I sat inside watching. That way I could see exactly where the drops came from. Then I just cleaned the seam area with rubbing alcohol and applied fresh seam sealer, let it dry overnight, and it never leaked again.
