Upgraded my tent stakes after 8 years and wow what a difference

I had been using the same cheap steel stakes I bought at Walmart forever. Last weekend on a trip near Lake Tahoe, I borrowed my buddy's lightweight titanium stakes. Setup was way faster and they actually held in the rocky ground. My old ones would bend if you looked at them wrong. Just ordered a set of 12 for $35 from REI. Has anyone else noticed a big change swapping out basic stakes?

oh man yeah the difference is night and day lol. also just a heads up, $35 for 12 titanium stakes from rei sounds like a really good deal but double check that theyre actually titanium and not just aluminum with a coating. i made that mistake once and they bent worse than my old steel ones lol. the real titanium ones are usually like $5-6 each unless you catch them on sale.

Ha, yeah that's a good catch. A lot of those budget "titanium" stakes are just painted aluminum and they fold up like paper on the first real use.
