Vent: That so called 'waterproof' tent I bought took me 4 hours in a drizzle to realize the seam seals weren't factory applied

What should have been a 20 minute setup turned into an afternoon of frustration with seam sealer and a hair dryer, has anyone else dealt with a brand skipping that step?

Patking, I hear you on the dried up sealer tube - that's just adding insult to injury. But respectfully, a 4 hour setup in drizzle sounds like you might have been going at it wrong. My experience with cheap tents is you gotta check the seams before you even leave the house, not wait til you're out there with a hair dryer.

Exactly what Oliver said. Check the seams before you head out. @patking, that dried up tube is the worst. I always buy a fresh tube of seam sealer separately, don't trust the one in the box. Also hit the zippers with some wax before you go. Saves you from that midnight rain panic.

Oh man, that is rough! A buddy of mine bought one of those big box store tents last summer and found out the same way, except it was a full on thunderstorm at 2am. He spent the whole next day trying to dry it out and hand smear that sticky goo along every single seam while his kids played in the car. To make it worse, the tube of sealer they included was already dried up and crusty, so he had to drive 30 minutes to the nearest camping store.
