Bought a $340 knee kicker last spring and it sat in my van for 4 months
I picked up a used knee kicker for $340 back in March because a guy at the supply house in Fresno swore I needed one for stretched rooms. First job I tried it on was a 12x15 berber in a rental, and I ended up nicking the baseboard because I kicked too hard on wet tack strip. Went back to my old grip and staple setup for a while and honestly forgot the thing was even in the van until July. Then I pulled it out for a stair runner in a Clovis duplex and it saved me about two hours of stretching by hand. Now I use it on almost every second job, but 340 bucks for something I ignored for months still stings. Has anyone else bought a tool that sat forever before it finally paid off?
My buddy bought one of those fancy carpet seam irons with the digital temp readout, paid like 260 for it, and it sat in his garage for almost a year because he kept using his old junky one. Then he got a job doing a bunch of berber seams in a church and that thing cut his time in half, no more scorched backing. He says he still feels dumb about the money but he'd buy it again tomorrow. Kinda the same deal as your kicker, sometimes you just don't know what you need till the right job shows up.
