Had a seam split on a big job last Thursday, right after the homeowner walked in
It was a 20 by 30 foot room with a plush pile, and I swear I heat-sealed it properly. The split opened up about two feet along the seam near the doorway. I think the issue was the subfloor temp (it was a cold concrete slab in the basement) and I rushed the adhesive cure time a bit. Had to move all the furniture back, cut out a section, and redo it on the spot. What's your go-to method for making sure seams hold on cold concrete? Do you ever use a different adhesive for those situations?

Come on, rushing is just part of the job sometimes! A good heat weld should hold if you do it right, no matter the floor temp. Maybe the problem wasn't the cold, but something else with the seam prep?

Cold concrete makes the adhesive cure slower, not faster.

Honestly, that "rushed the adhesive cure time" bit hits home. Tbh I see this everywhere now, people skipping the dry time for instant results. Like painting a second coat too soon or not letting concrete set before walking on it. We're all so pushed to finish fast that the basic steps get cut. Ngl, even with my dog grooming, if I don't let the conditioner sit long enough, the cut just isn't right. Cold concrete just makes that rush even worse because everything slows down.
