Just realized I was stretching carpet totally wrong for years

I used to do all my power stretching by just pulling from the wall with the knee kicker only. Took forever and I always had ripples show up after a few months. Then about 6 months ago a guy at a supply house in Akron told me to use the power stretcher from the opposite wall first. I thought he was crazy lol but I tried it and the difference was night and day. Now my carpets lay flat every time and I save like 20 minutes per room. Does anyone else have a technique they thought was fine until someone showed them a better way?

Nah, you're supposed to start from the middle and work out to the walls.

Read on a flooring forum that the knee kicker is mostly for final adjustments.
