Ngl, skipping sleep for extra prep ruined my next day's install

I used to stay up late getting tools and carpet ready for the morning. After a bad seam because I was groggy, I finally get that good sleep makes a huge difference in my work. What tricks help you catch enough rest on busy weeks?

Seriously, I used to do the same thing. But staying up late to prep is not needed. Set a hard stop for work, like 8 PM. I lay out my tools and cut list right after dinner now. That way I get to bed on time. Next day, my hands are steady for seams and my brain is awake for measurements.

So when work runs late and your 8 PM hard stop gets blown, what's your backup move? Like if a client calls with last minute changes at 7:30, do you just leave the tools for morning or try a faster version of your routine? I'm curious how you keep the sleep schedule when the job itself fights you on it.

Wendy_ross71 has a point, but is a bad seam really that big of a deal?
