PSA: Older installers used to pass down tips while we worked, but now the new crew learns from videos.

Something about hearing it in person just stuck better.

Actually, I picked up way more from well made videos. Being able to pause and rewind is huge.

I mean, it's just learning how to do a job, not brain surgery. Some people watch a video and get it, others need a person. It's not like the old way made perfect workers either. I've seen plenty of guys who had "in person" training still mess up basic stuff. Maybe we're just making a bigger deal out of it than it needs to be.

Pausing and rewinding is handy, but having someone right there to show you the trick just clicks better for me. You pick up on little things they don't always put in videos.
