Shoutout to the 1,000th square foot of carpet I ever stretched

I mean, I hit it last Tuesday on a job in a big old house in Cincinnati, and it just felt different, idk. It was this tricky hallway with two weird angles, and getting it tight and right on that exact piece made me stop for a second. Has anyone else had a job where a random number just stuck with you like that?

Counting carpet squares now... really?

My friend Mark once counted 127 ceiling tiles during a boring meeting. He said it kept his mind from going totally blank, which I get. It's a quiet focus thing, samb42, not so different from your carpet squares.

Honestly, samb42, that "really" feels a bit harsh to me lol. I know it sounds silly to call it focus, but some of us need a little brain reset to not zone out completely. Counting anything, even carpet squares, can be that anchor when the meeting is dragging and you're fighting to stay present. I've done the carpet thing myself back when I had to sit through hour long budget talks, and it beats looking at my phone or just staring off into space. It's not about the squares, it's about giving your brain one simple thing to hold onto so you don't totally check out.
