Stair nose pulled up 2 days after install in San Antonio

Gutters overflowed during that rain last Thursday and soaked the landing. By Saturday the stair nose had popped loose at the landing edge. I used a standard 2 inch trim nailer with adhesive backing, but clearly the moisture got under it. I pulled it off, let everything dry out, then reglued with PL Premium and added two screws through the subfloor side. Has anyone else dealt with stair nose lifting near exterior doors? Wondering if I should switch to a different adhesive for wet zones.
