Threw away $80 on a cheap power stretcher that broke on day 3

I bought one of those budget power stretchers off Amazon for like 80 bucks last month. Figured it would be fine for small rooms and saving some cash. Third job I used it on, the head snapped clean off the tube while I was stretching a tight loop pile. Lost a whole afternoon waiting for a buddy to bring his real one so I could finish. Ended up buying a used Kool glide from a retiring guy for $200 that same week. Now I got a paperweight in my garage that cost me time and money. Anyone else get burned by cheap tools thinking you'd save a few bucks?

Man the head snapping clean off is brutal. Honestly I've seen cheap tools fail but that's next level. Tbh I bet the metal was so thin it couldn't handle any real tension. Ngl I've been lucky so far with my off-brand stuff but stories like this make me nervous.

My 3/8" drive harbor freight ratchet snapped at the handle joint last year, not even under heavy load. I sent them a photo and they actually gave me a new one no questions asked. The metal quality on these budget tools is hit or miss depending on which batch you get. Sometimes you just get unlucky with a casting flaw that makes it through.
