Wasted $60 on a foam pad that made the carpet buckle

I bought a thick memory foam pad from a big box store thinking it would make the job feel luxurious. Three months later the carpet started rippling in the doorway because the foam compressed unevenly under the furniture. Had to pull it all up and redo it with standard rebond pad. Anyone else run into trouble with those thick pads?

Wait isn't the thicker foam supposed to be better? I used to think bigger meant more comfort too. But after seeing your post and remembering what happened to my buddy's carpet, I get it now. That thick stuff just doesn't have the right density to hold up under the weight of furniture and foot traffic. I was about to buy a two inch pad for my own place, but now I'm definitely sticking with the standard rebond.

Oh man, I was totally in the same boat. I always figured thicker meant cozier and that was that. But honestly, seeing how that thick foam just caves in under furniture over time really changed my whole perspective. My own living room carpet is a mess now because I went with a soft, thick pad a few years ago, and it’s got these permanent dips where my couch sits. You’d think it would be more comfortable, but it’s actually worse for walking on now, all lumpy and uneven. I guess bigger isn’t always better when it comes to padding, right?
