Watched a crew in Nashville trim carpet around 16 floor vents and they had zero waste
I was at a new build in Nashville last Thursday and saw them use a custom jig for each vent cut. Has anyone else bothered with making templates for multiple vents or is that just overkill?

I tried making a template for a job with 12 vents and it saved my back more than anything. A little setup time beats crawling around measuring each one twice.

That "saved my back more than anything" part really hits home... but here's something nobody talks about. If you label the template with the actual vent model number and cutout dimensions, you can reuse it years later when that specific vent breaks and you need a replacement tile. I've got a few templates in my truck from jobs way back that I still pull out for repairs. Saves even more time than making a new one each time.
