Why does nobody talk about how much heat a power stretcher loses in the summer?

I was on a install in Phoenix last July and my power stretcher kept slipping on the tack strip. Found out from a old timer that the glue on the strip softens in anything over 100 degrees and your tool basically slides right off. How do you guys keep your kicks solid in hot weather?

Holy crap, the glue actually melts off? I've been fighting my stretcher all summer and just thought I was losing my grip.

The glue melting is a real thing but its only part of the problem. Heat and sweat break down the adhesive over time, but your grip technique matters just as much. Try cleaning the frame rails with rubbing alcohol before you mount it, that should help you get a better hold.
