Am I the only one who was playing with Monopoly money all wrong for like 15 years?
I was at my parents' house in Toledo last month digging through the basement and pulled out our old Monopoly set, the one with the metal pieces and the cardboard that's soft as a dish rag. We started a game and about an hour in my sister said something offhand about how she always kept her money in stacks of 10, and I realized I had been doing the opposite my whole childhood. I used to shove every bill into one fat pile and just eyeball it, which meant I was constantly counting wrong and handing over way too much change. No wonder I always lost. We played three games that night and I won two of them, which never happened when I was a kid. It made me wonder how many other games I played as a kid where I was getting some basic part of it wrong and never knew. Did anyone else have a rule or habit they figured out way too late?
