Appreciation post: The old wooden blocks at my aunt's house

I was over at my aunt's place in Cleveland last weekend and she still has those chunky wooden blocks from the 70s... I ended up playing with them for a solid hour. Has anyone else gone back to a really simple toy and just felt totally absorbed again?

Oh man, those blocks are a trip. I found my old Lincoln Logs at my mom's last year. Started building a little cabin like it was 1985 again. Got completely sucked in. Forgot there's no YouTube to explain how to not make the roof collapse. Took an hour but I had that thing standing. Simple stuff just hits different.

@jamie794 totally get it man. I did the same exact thing with my cousins old wooden train set from the 80s at her place last fall. Started just pushing a little caboose around and before I knew it I had tracks going everywhere across the living room floor. No batteries, no lights, just me and some wooden rails. It was like my brain just shut off and focused on nothing else for a solid 45 minutes. Simple toys hit different because they dont ask anything from you, you just do your thing. Kinda makes you wonder why we ever moved on from this stuff honestly.
