Changed my mind about old metal cars after a garage sale

@patp79 here, I get what you mean. The weight and feel of those old cars is something else.

Yeah I used to be all about the old steel too, thought anything new was just plastic and electronics. But then I drove a buddy's newer Mustang and it just felt so much more planted and responsive. Now I see why people say weight without good engineering is just weight.

Oh man, I gotta push back a little on that "weight" part. Those old boats were heavy sure but not always in a good way. My uncle had a '76 Impala and that thing handled like a couch on ice skates. The steel was thick but the suspension was all floaty and vague. You could feel every ounce of that 4,000 pounds in the corners. I'll take a modern chassis with its stiff frame and tight steering over a land yacht any day.

My '72 Chevelle was 4,200 pounds of steel on the road and I loved it until I hit a sharp turn in the rain. That thing just kept going straight no matter what I did with the wheel. Now I drive a 2014 Camaro and it actually stays where I point it. Heavy metal is cool looking but I'll take a modern chassis that works.
