Dad tried to show me how to fly a paper airplane in 1998 and it went totally sideways

I remember standing in the living room with my dad back in 1998, he was all excited to teach me how to fold the perfect paper airplane. He grabbed a sheet of notebook paper from my backpack and started folding it real slow, explaining every step like it was some kind of secret science. We got to the last fold and he handed it to me, saying "this one will go across the whole yard no problem." I threw it as hard as I could and that thing did a loop, flew straight into the ceiling fan, and dropped right into a glass of iced tea my mom had left on the coffee table. He just stood there staring at the soggy paper floating in the tea and said "well, that's not supposed to happen." I still laugh about it every time I see a paper airplane, and I've never been able to get one to fly right either. Has anyone else had a paper airplane fail that was way funnier than it should have been?

Quit overthinking it, it was just soggy paper and a ceiling fan, not a life lesson.

Is it weird that I used to read deep meaning into stuff like that, but now I just see it as a damp mess? Yeah, @keithbennett, you kind of snapped me out of it, because sometimes a fan and some paper is just that. I guess that's the real lesson, there isn't always one.
