Dropped $75 at a garage sale on a box of 'vintage' toys that turned out to be mostly junk
Saw a listing in Roseville last Saturday for a box of 80s toys and got excited, but half of it was Happy Meal junk and broken parts. I thought I'd find something cool to relive, but now it's just sitting in my garage and I'm out $75. Has anyone else been burned like this at a sale?
Man, that hurts! Here's a thing nobody talks about though, garage sales in older neighborhoods are way better than the ones in newer burbs. People in Roseville who moved in during the 2000s already got rid of their childhood stuff years ago, so what's left is usually their own kids' junk from the 90s and 2000s. The real 80s gold is in places like North Highlands or older parts of Sac where folks have lived in the same house for 40 years and just now cleaning out the attic. Next time check the listing photos for the actual address and look at how old the houses are on Google Maps before you drive out there. Also Happy Meal toys from the 80s can actually be worth a few bucks if they're complete sets, so dig through before you toss the box.
