Finally got my old Micro Machines track to loop all the way without a kink after 25 years

I just tried wetting the plastic connectors with a tiny bit of dish soap before snapping them together and the cars actually made it through the full figure-8, has anyone else found a random trick that fixed a stubborn childhood toy?

But doesn't the soap residue just attract dust and cause more friction later on?

Whoa wait, dust attracted to soap residue? I have never heard that one before! I mean, I get it conceptually if you let it sit there long enough, but I've been using a light coat of dish soap on my bike chain for years and I've never seen a dust magnet situation happen. Are you letting it dry completely before riding or wiping off the excess? That might be the trick.
