Found my old 1996 Tamagotchi and a newer one from 2019 in a box

I charged them both up and played for a week. The old one was way more fun because the pixel art was simpler and the beeps were more charming, even if it died faster. The new one has too many colors and menus that just feel like a chore. Did anyone else find the original versions of these toys more engaging?

Always thought the new ones would be better. But you're right, the old ones just had more charm with less stuff to manage.

My buddy Jake bought a brand new smart fridge last year, the kind with a screen and apps and all that. He spent more time trying to get the calendar to sync than he ever did just using a magnet and a note, lol. It totally fits what you're saying, @tarac16, about less stuff to manage. He said his old fridge just kept things cold without needing a software update every other month. Sometimes simpler really is better, you know? All that extra tech just adds more things that can go wrong.
