Found old LEGO sets in my parents attic - still holding up after 20 years
I was cleaning out my old room last weekend and found a box of LEGO sets from like 2002-2005. Pulled out the old Star Wars snowspeeder and was shocked how well the clutch power holds up even after two decades. The brittle brown pieces from that era are definitely cracking though, lost like 3 plates just trying to rebuild. I switched over to collecting modular buildings around 2018 and those newer sets have way better color consistency. Anyone else notice how the older gray pieces get that weird yellow tint over time or is it just my storage?

Isn't it funny how some stuff just gets better with age and other stuff falls apart?

My grandma still has a tupperware container from the 70s that works perfectly, but I had to replace my phone after two years because the battery swelled up. Is it really that deep though? Some things are just built different and some things aren't meant to last forever. I feel like people put way too much pressure on things to be "timeless" when half the time it's just about what you're willing to put up with. Do you actually think that old whiskey is all that better than the new stuff, or is it just the story we tell ourselves?
