I bought a vintage View-Master on a whim last month

Spent about $35 on it, plus another $20 for a few old reels of national parks. I showed it to my ten year old niece, thinking she'd find it silly. She was totally hooked, asking to see every picture and wanting to know all about the places. It's a simple thing, but the 3D effect still has a magic that a phone screen just doesn't. Has anyone else had a toy from their childhood surprise you by how well it holds up?

Nice! Found my old Lite-Brite in the attic last winter. Plugged it in, still works. My nephew sat there for hours making patterns. Simple stuff just hits different.

Ever think about how the smell of warm plastic from those old lights is part of the whole memory? That weird, specific scent when it heats up after being on for a while.

What, no dial-up internet to go with it?
