My nephew made me rethink my old Hot Wheels collection
I was showing my 8 year old nephew my old Hot Wheels from when I was a kid. He picked up this beat up blue 1970 Mustang and said it was cool because it looked like it actually raced. I always kept them in a box thinking they were just toys to trade. But hearing him say that made me realize they are still fun to play with and not just collect. Anyone else find new joy in old toys through a kid's eyes?

Took my old Micro Machines to my cousin's place and the kids went nuts. Sometimes a little wear and tear just means a toy's got stories to tell.

That line about toys having stories really hits home. I've still got a few Micro Machines from the early 90s that have that worn look from being run through sandboxes and dropped off tables more times than I can count. One little red Corvette has a chunk missing from the hood where my brother tried to "fix" it with a lighter as a kid. The kids I gave them to don't care about the scratches - they just see the cool little cars and start making their own stories up.
