My old Lego Star Wars set from 2005 fell apart when I moved it
I was cleaning out my parents' attic in Cincinnati last month and found my old Lego Millennium Falcon. It was the 2005 version, not the huge new ones. I picked it up to put it in a box and the whole thing just came apart in my hands. The plastic felt brittle, and a bunch of the gray pieces had these tiny cracks near the studs. I sat there for an hour trying to put it back together from the picture on the box, but it was frustrating. The pieces didn't click together like they used to, they felt loose. Part of me thinks old toys like this just wear out and aren't meant to be played with again. But another part thinks maybe I just need to buy a new set to get that feeling back. Has anyone else had an old Lego set just disintegrate on them?

Man, that's rough. Heard about this happening with old Lego, something about the plastic formula changing over time. Could be the attic heat in Cincinnati messed with it, those temperature swings make plastic brittle. Honestly, seeing it fall apart like that is a specific kind of heartbreak lol. Maybe look up if Lego replaces old pieces, some of those gray bits might be easy to get.

Nah, I've got a bunch of old sets from my dad and they're FINE. It's more about how you store them, gotta keep them out of the sun.

Ugh that's the worst feeling. I had my old Hogwarts castle do the same thing. I ended up just sorting all the pieces and rebuilding it slowly with the online instructions, it was kinda fun actually.
