My old Radio Flyer wagon folded like a cheap chair last week

I've kept my 1970s wagon in the garage for years, hauling mulch and firewood. Last Saturday I loaded it with two bags of soil and the front axle just snapped clean. Turns out the steel rusted from the inside out after all those winters in Ohio. I was going to restore it, but now I'm looking at modern wagons with real bearings. Anyone else had a classic toy fail when you tried to use it for actual work?

Folded like a cheap chair" is right, mine did the same thing but with a single bag of birdseed. That wagon survived my childhood, three moves, and a decade of yard work, then gave up on a Tuesday morning. I feel your pain on the rusted steel, these things rot from the inside like they're keeping secrets. I looked at the new ones too, but then I remembered I can't even put together a grill without extra parts left over. So now I just use a wheelbarrow and tell myself it's character building.
