Pro tip: I found my old Bop It Extreme in a box and realized everyone forgets you need fresh batteries for the sound to actually work right.

After digging it out, I put in some cheap ones from the drawer and the voice commands were so slow and garbled I thought it was broken, but a new pack of Duracells made it snap back to its frantic, annoying 2003 self.

Honestly it's just batteries, not some magic fix. People act like putting in Duracells is bringing a toy back from the dead. It's a basic power source, of course fresh ones work better. The drama over a Bop It having a slow voice is a bit much.

Isn't it funny how that happens? Those old toys really come alive with good batteries. I had the same thing happen with a talking Halloween decoration last year.
