Rant: my old Lite-Brite finally quit after 30 odd birthdays in a Phoenix garage, and the fix was 4 bucks
Dug my Lite-Brite out of a box in my mom's garage in Phoenix last month because my niece wanted to see the toys I played with as a kid, and the thing lit up for about 10 seconds before it went dark. I figured it was dead for good, but my brother poked at the cord and said the little bulb was probably just burnt, so we popped the case open with a butter knife. Turns out the bulb is one of those tiny screw in ones, and the contacts had a green crust on them from sitting in the heat. I scraped the gunk off with a nail file, twisted in a 4 dollar bulb from the hardware store, and it fired right up like nothing happened. The pegs are still all there, even the tiny blue ones, which shocked me because I lost those constantly as a kid. We sat on the floor for an hour making a lopsided cat while my niece told me the colors were boring. Has anyone else brought an old light up toy back from the dead, or is it usually the bulb that dies first?
