Why does nobody talk about Super Soakers losing pressure over time?

I found my old Super Soaker CPS 2000 from 1996 in my parents' basement last weekend. Took it out to the backyard for a test run and was shocked how weak the stream was compared to what I remember. Turns out the rubber pressure bladder gets stiff and cracked after like 25 years (makes sense I guess). Has anyone else tried replacing those bladders or did you just give up on the old ones?

The CPS 2000's bladder issue is actually a known problem in the modding community.

Yeah, you're right about the bladder thing being known, but I gotta push back on something here @diana155. The CPS 2000 doesn't actually have a bladder issue in the way people think. The real problem is the tubing and the check valves inside the reservoir. People blame the bladder because it's the big obvious piece, but nine times out of ten you can swap out the tubes and it'll hold pressure fine. I've fixed three of them that way. The actual bladders on those are pretty tough, they just get a bad rep because everyone jumps to that conclusion first.
