Bought a $180 heat pump water heater, my electric bill dropped $35 a month
I swapped my old electric tank for a heat pump model back in March because my basement stays cool anyway, so the payback made sense. It uses the surrounding air to heat water, which sounds weird but actually works. The install took a full day and the unit itself was $1,200 after rebates, but I'm already seeing the savings on my utility bill. Anyone else make the switch and notice their basement got chillier in winter? Trying to figure out if I need to adjust the vents down there.

Is a $35 savings really worth the hassle and the cold basement?
