Found out my daily commute is worse than I thought
I was just messing around on the EPA website last night, looking up local emissions data for fun. Turns out my 15 mile drive to work every day pumps out about 6.5 pounds of CO2. That's almost 1,600 pounds a year just from me going back and forth! I had no idea it added up that fast, it kind of blew my mind. Now I'm thinking about carpooling with a coworker who lives a few blocks away. Has anyone else crunched their own numbers and gotten a surprise like this?

Totally, @luna_craig58 has it right. Carpooling is the easiest win. I did the same math a few months ago using one of those online carbon calculators. My 20 mile round trip came out to almost 8 pounds each day. I was pretty shocked, a whole lot of nothing adding up to real damage. I started taking the bus partway and walking the rest, cut my driving to just two days a week. It's not as fast but I feel way better about it.
