Guy at the bus stop called me out for idling my car last tuesday

I was sitting in my sedan waiting to pick up my sister for like 10 minutes with the heat on and this older dude tapped on my window and just said 'youre burning money and killing the air.' He wasnt mean about it, just matter of fact. Honestly Ive been turning my engine off every time I wait more than 30 seconds now and my gas bill dropped like $20 last month. Anyone else have a random stranger call them out on something small like that?

Right? That guy did you a solid. Something similar went down with me last year, I was letting my truck warm up outside a coffee shop and some lady walking her dog just yells "turn it off ya lazy bum" from across the street. It ticked me off at first but I started reading about it and yeah, modern engines don't need to idle for more than like 30 seconds to warm up. Now I kill the engine even if I'm just parked scrolling on my phone for two minutes. That twenty bucks you saved is real, I noticed my own gas money stretching a lot further too. Have you caught yourself doing it automatically now without even thinking?

Good for that guy. I had someone yell at me for tossing a cigarette butt once, changed my habit too.
