Left a cracked window open during a hailstorm in Denver and lost $200 worth of seedlings

I was trying to save on AC last June by cracking the bedroom window at night. Woke up at 4am to golf ball sized hail coming in. My whole tray of tomato and pepper starts got pounded flat. Now I just buy weather strips for the AC unit and keep windows shut during storm season. Anyone else lose plants to surprise weather?

Golf ball sized hail coming in" yeah that's a whole different kind of "fresh air" than what you were going for. Sounds like you got a free smoothie blend of tomatoes and peppers that morning. I swear Mother Nature in Colorado has zero chill, she sees you cracking a window and takes it as a personal challenge. At least you didn't sleep through it and wake up with a puddle the size of a kiddie pool on your floor. Your seedlings are probably in a better place now, like the compost heap.
