My neighborhood compost program proved me wrong in 3 weeks

I figured the city's compost pickup would just be a feel-good gimmick, but after 3 weeks I saw my trash bin go from 3 bags down to 1. The real kicker was checking my garden soil this spring, it's darker and holds water way better than the cheap bagged stuff I used to buy. Anyone else had a local program that actually delivered against your doubts?
