My old watering schedule was actually killing my garden plants
I used to water my raised beds every single evening without fail, like a clock. About 6 months ago I started working night shifts at the hospital and couldn't water at my usual time. At first I felt guilty, then I noticed the plants looked healthier when I skipped a day. My neighbor, who's been gardening for decades, told me most people overwater their veggies. She showed me how to check soil moisture with just my finger about two inches down. Now I only water when the soil actually feels dry and my tomatoes have way less rot on the bottoms. Has anyone else noticed a big change after they cut back on watering?

Ngl, I've been accidentally loving my plants to death this whole time.

My neighbor told me the same thing and I didn't believe her at first. I used to water my pepper plants every single morning before work because I thought they needed it. Then I got super busy and forgot for like three days and the peppers were actually bigger and had less yellow leaves. Now I just stick my finger in the dirt and if it's still damp I leave it alone. It feels like being lazy is actually better for them.
