Our community fridge died during a heatwave and we lost a whole pallet of donated produce

The compressor gave out last Tuesday when it hit 96 in Phoenix, and we had to toss 80 pounds of veggies before the health inspector came, so has anyone here rebuilt one of those efficiency units or should we just fundraise for a solar-powered replacement?

The "whole pallet of donated produce" hit me because that's not just wasted food, it's wasted trust from people who gave what they could. Seems like every community program I know is one broken machine away from a total collapse, and we always patch things instead of building them right. Good luck with the solar route, but maybe check if any local repair shops teach fridge classes first, that way the next heatwave doesn't catch you off guard.
