The creek by my old house in Ohio is finally coming back

Three years ago, that water was brown and you couldn't see the bottom. Last month, I drove by and saw a blue heron standing in it. Last week, my brother sent a picture of kids catching crawdads there. The town cleaned it up and planted a bunch of trees along the banks. Anyone else seen a local spot get better like that?

That's so good to hear. There's a little park near me that used to have a trash problem. The city put in more cans and a local group does cleanups. Now you actually see people having picnics there again. It makes a huge difference.

Exactly what @brooke_webb said. Basic upkeep works.

YES! It's crazy how much a little effort can change a place. There's a bus stop by my old apartment that was always covered in litter. A few neighbors started taking turns grabbing the trash on their morning walk. Within a couple weeks, other people stopped throwing their stuff on the ground. It just needed someone to show it was cared about. Simple stuff really does work.
