Took apart my old desktop tower last Saturday and wow
I compared the energy draw of my clunky 2015 PC (running 24/7) against a cheap mini PC from Amazon I got for $150. The old rig pulls about 200 watts idle while the mini pulls 15 watts. I switched all my light office work to the mini PC and my electric bill dropped by $18 last month alone. Anyone else swapped out an old desktop for a less power-hungry setup?

$18 just to run a 2015 space heater that also computes, nice.

You mentioned that $18 drop in your electric bill and it really hit me. That's not just about the PC, it's part of this bigger thing I've noticed where everything we own just keeps getting more efficient over time. Like my fridge from 2010 uses way more power than the new one my neighbor got, and my old TV was a power hog compared to the LED I have now. It's like we're all slowly swapping out these energy-sucking dinosaurs for things that barely sip electricity. But the funny thing is, nobody thinks about it until they see the actual numbers on their bill, like you did. We just get used to the new stuff being small and quiet and don't realize how much the old stuff was costing us all along.
