That "more hassle than help" feeling is why my rain barrel is just a fancy yard ornament now.

Ugh, I totally get that. I used to think they were a great idea until mine got all gross and clogged. Now it just sits there looking sad too.

Did you try the mosquito dunks? Mine was a mess until I started using those.
