Watched a guy at the Eugene Saturday Market sort trash for 20 minutes and it changed how I shop
I was at the Eugene Saturday Market in Oregon a couple weeks ago getting some jam when I noticed this older guy in a vest pulling cups and wrappers out of the landfill bin and sorting them into the right ones. He wasn't even paid to be there, he just stood by the bins and did it while people walked past, and when I asked why he said the market only has 3 bins and folks get confused so he figures he saves a whole dumpster load every weekend. It sounds small but watching him pull like 15 plastic cups out of the garbage made me wonder if I've been putting stuff in the wrong bin my whole life, so how do you actually figure out what goes where in your city without guessing?
