Why does nobody talk about the 2021 heat dome in the Pacific Northwest?

Three years ago in Portland, we hit 116 degrees and the power grid nearly failed. I watched elderly neighbors struggle without AC while officials just told people to stay inside. How do we prepare for that becoming normal?

Honestly feels like people talk about it all the time now, especially during summer. The prep part is the real nightmare though lol.

My friend spent three whole weekends just cleaning out his garage before he could even start. The amount of junk you have to sort through and get rid of is a project all by itself. Then you have to actually patch and paint everything. It's easily a month of work before the fun part even begins.

Yeah the prep part... I'm with you there. My garage looks like a storage unit threw up in it. I saw what christophermurphy said about his friend and I feel that deep in my soul. I found paint cans from 2004 last week. Had to move a broken mini fridge just to see the wall I'm supposed to patch. It's gonna be next summer at this rate.
