A foreman in Phoenix showed me his tablet tracking 40 workers live, and it scared me a little
Last week I was on a job site in Phoenix and the foreman pulled up a dashboard on his tablet showing every worker's exact location, break times, and even how long they stood still near the scaffolding. I asked him if the crew knew and he just shrugged and said the GC rolled it out company wide two months ago. I'm not against tracking for safety, but nobody ever sat these guys down and explained what data was being pulled or where it goes. Has anyone else run into location tracking software on site without a real conversation with the crew first?
Had the same thing on a Texas site and what helped was getting the super to hand out a one page sheet at the morning huddle explaining what the badges tracked and who could see it. Guys were way less pissed once they knew it was just for safety and not some lame productivity scoreboard.
