Appreciation post: My $400 laser level saved a whole weekend of framing

We were doing a garage addition and the old string line method was killing us with wind and setup time. Bought a DeWalt DW088K cross line laser level on a whim, cost about $400 after tax. Had the whole main wall layout done in under an hour, perfectly square and plumb. Anyone have a go-to tool that just made a messy job super clean?

Man, I feel that. I used to fight with a string line for deck posts until I caved and got a laser. Mine's a cheaper one, but just having that solid line to work to instead of guessing in the wind is a game changer. Saved me a ton of cussing and rework.

Totally get that. My dad still uses strings for everything and watching him fight the wind is almost a sport.
