BIM model crashed hard during a client walkthrough last Tuesday

I was in our conference room in downtown Austin showing a 3D clash detection animation to the project owner when the whole model just froze solid. Turns out the render engine had a memory leak from a bad texture file one of our junior techs imported. Has anyone else had a software problem kill a client presentation like that?

Tbh this is just how technology works now, everything breaks right when you need it most.

Hold on, a bad texture file did all that? I had a similar thing happen once where a single corrupted JPEG of a brick wall took down the whole viewport. It’s wild to me that something that small can crash a whole model like that, not even an error message just a total freeze. I agree with what @robert_hayes said, this seems to be the norm now where the tech gives out at the worst possible moment.
