Blew $400 on a fancy laser level that can't handle sunlight on a Phoenix job site
Within 20 minutes outside the green beam was invisible and I had to pull out my old $40 bubble level to finish the layout, so has anybody found a laser that actually works in direct sun without breaking the bank?

Dang, I heard those green beam ones die fast in bright sun. Try a rotary level maybe?

Don't think the sun kills them, but they definitely wash out and get hard to see in bright conditions. Rotary levels are great for outdoor work though, that part is solid advice.

You seriously paid $400 for a laser that can't handle a little sunshine? Those green beams are a gimmick on bright days. They promise the world but die the second the sun hits them. I tried the same thing on a job in Tucson and had the same problem wasted money on a fancy toy. The old bubble levels never let you down because they don't need batteries or special conditions. You either pay for a quality rotary level that actually works in direct sun or you stick with what's proven. Don't expect a budget laser to beat the desert.
