Caught myself calculating lumber waste in my sleep last night

I was messing around with a takeoff calculator app last week and it said the average framing crew wastes 8-12% of lumber on a typical house. That number hit me hard because I manage a few rental flips and never really tracked it. I went back and checked my last 3 jobs and yep, we were throwing away close to 15% in offcuts and bad cuts. Anyone else ever run the numbers on waste and feel kinda sick about it?

Is it really that bad though? I mean, we all know what we signed up for when we clicked that button. It's not like the numbers were a surprise, right? Mine went down a little too, but I'm still breathing and my coffee still tastes the same.
