Chat with an old carpenter last week made me rethink digital blueprints
Was on a jobsite in Nashville helping my cousin frame a addition. Old guy named Hank was running the crew, maybe 60 years old. He saw me on my tablet pulling up the plans and he just laughed. Said "son I been building houses since before you were born and I never needed a battery to read a tape." Then he showed me how he marks everything with pencil on a 2x4, no prints needed. Kinda made me wonder if I lean too hard on the tech. Any of you guys still do it old school when the WiFi drops?

Don’t you think a pencil still works better than a tablet when the battery dies? That guy knows his stuff.

@cole_hall totally nails it though - a pencil never runs out of battery but have you ever tried sharpening one in the dark? That's the real test of survival skills right there.
