Criticism from a framer changed how I set my laser level
Last year a framer on a job site in Raleigh told me I was wasting time leveling the laser every single time I moved it. He showed me that if I just leave it on the tripod and rotate the head instead, I only need to level it once per room. Now on a 3,000 square foot house I save about 20 minutes of setup. Anybody else get told something obvious that you just never thought of?

Wasting time leveling the laser every single time" - yeah that's one of those things that seems obvious once someone says it but you just never stop to think about it. I bet you were also probably leveling it twice when you moved it across the room too, just out of habit. 20 minutes on a 3000 square foot house adds up quick though, especially if you do a few of those a week. It's crazy how the smallest tweak in how you do something can save you hours over a whole job.

Keep a second tripod with the laser already mounted on it. Then you just swap the whole thing to your next spot and it's pretty much already set. Also mark your reference lines with painter's tape so you don't have to recheck the level after every move. That little sticker shock of buying an extra tripod pays for itself after a week or two of faster setups. It's one of those things where the money saves you time but nobody thinks to do it.

Was guilty of that for years till one guy on site pointed it out and saved me a ton of time.
