Hit 1,000 manholes mapped this week and the data surprised me

We've been doing this utility locating project in Columbus for about 8 months now. I hit 1,000 manholes mapped this week and I was not ready for what it showed. About 340 of them were not on any of the city's old paper records, just totally missing. Some were buried under 6 inches of asphalt or hidden in overgrown lots. That changed how I think about trusting historical data on older sites. Has anyone else run into a similar gap count on their own projects? What did your crew do with the info?
